100 Community Heroes

Receiving the 100 Communities Heroes Award

The ACT Down Syndrome Association is delighted to advise that we are receiving a 100 Community Heroes Grant from the Calwell, Curtin, Jerrabomberra, and Wanniassa Community Bank® branches of Bendigo Bank, thanks to a local “Community Hero” who nominated our organisation to receive this fantastic grant.

The $1000 will enable our organisation to celebrate the achievements of people with Down syndrome during October’s Step Up for Down Syndrome celebrations and our Annual Alderson Award on World Down Syndrome Day next year (March 21, 2014).

The grant was provided under the 100 Community Heroes Campaign—a special initiative in honour of the bank’s 10th Anniversary of operations in our region and also Canberra’s Centenary.

The 100 Community Heroes Campaign has been a fantastic initiative allowing locals to show support for community groups—all up the campaign provided 100 community groups just like ours with $1000 grants.

The Community Banks® seek to grow business by growing communities. They do this by investing up to 80% of all banking profits back into the community via grants and sponsorships—just like the 100 Community Heroes Campaign.

A big thank you from the ACT Down Syndrome Association to the Calwell, Curtin, Jerrabomberra, and Wanniassa Community Bank® branches for this much needed financial assistance.
