Alderson Awards 2015

Saturday 21st March was World Down Syndrome Day and also the night of nights for the ACTDSA “Oscars” – also known as the Alderson Awards.

It was a great night of food, wine, music, dancing, a raffle and hearing inspirational stories of people in our community achieving significant milestones. It was our privilege to award Bradley Price the Alderson Family Award for Achievement. Over the last few years Bradley has graduated school, undertaken work experience, secured employment and moved out of home! He goes home on weekends to care for sheep on the family farm. Brad is a worthy recipient.

The recipient of the Kate Louise Alderson Award was GG’s Flowers. GG’s Flowers was started by the Wijewickrema family to provide employment for their daughter Gayana and has grown quickly in one year and now employees three people with disabilities. It is a testament to the family’s hard work and determination to provide an environment where people with disabilities can gain meaningful employment.
